Sarah's sisters were Catharine Young Sampson, Deborah Young McClure, Margaret Young Peacock, and Ethelina Young Peacock Belch. Margaret "Margy" was murdered by a "demented relative" - - hit on the head with a stone or rock. Deborah, married to Dr. Dexter McClure, died in childbirth about
1875. The family story is that she overdosed on painkillers and the doctor was out on a call. Ethe took her life by swallowing carbolic acid, apparently suffering from depression. Debby was my gg grandmother. Sarah recorded the birth of my grandmother, Lemira Orilla McClure, in her diary in June 1860.

Granny Balser whom she refers to several times, is her great aunt, Barbara Waldsmith Landon Balser, sister of her grandfather Peter Waldsmith.
